At My Rejuvenate in Annandale, Sydney, cosmetic tattoo removal is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. This includes brow tattoo removal, lip tattoo fading, and eyeliner tattoo lightening.

Hormonal changes can increase skin sensitivity, making you more prone to side effects like scarring or pigmentation changes. There’s also a potential (though unproven) risk that pigment particles broken down during treatment may affect your baby via the bloodstream or breastmilk.

For your safety and your baby’s, it’s best to wait until after this period before starting any laser or non-laser tattoo removal treatments.

The number of sessions varies depending on pigment type, depth, skin condition, and the method used. At My Rejuvenate, most clients require between 1 and 3 sessions for significant fading or complete removal. In some cases with more extreme pigment saturation it can take up to 8 sessions. During your consultation, we’ll tailor a treatment plan based on your unique tattoo and goals.

Most clients describe the sensation as a quick, snapping feeling—similar to a rubber band on the skin. At My Rejuvenate, we use a professional skin cooling system during Q-switch laser tattoo removal to counteract heat and significantly reduce discomfort throughout the treatment. This makes the process much more tolerable, especially for sensitive areas like brows, lips, or eyeliner tattoos

Common Side Effects:

• Redness and swelling: Typically short-term and part of the body’s healing process.

• Scabbing or flaking: A normal part of pigment removal; it’s important not to pick the area.

• Mild discomfort: Feels similar to a rubber band snap; cooling devices and numbing agents help ease this.

Possible Risks (less common):

• Hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation: Temporary darkening or lightening of the skin, more common in deeper skin tones or with sun exposure.

• Blistering or skin sensitivity: Rare and usually resolves with proper aftercare.

• Scarring: Very rare when treated correctly, but possible, especially if aftercare instructions are not followed.

Both laser and non-laser tattoo removal can be used for lips, depending on the pigment colour. Lighter or warm tones may respond better to saline removal, while darker tones often fade well with Q-switch laser, used at My Rejuvenate.

Yes! Many clients choose to lighten brow or lip tattoos to allow for correction or cover-up. Our treatments can tone down the colour without full removal, allowing you to update your look or reshape the design. Laser toning is the recommended treatment to achieve these results. You may not be eligible if you have active skin infections, undergoing treatment for cancer, are pregnant, breastfeeding, prone to keloid scarring, or recently tanned skin. We’ll assess this during your consultation for tattoo removal at My Rejuvenate in Sydney.
