WHAT IS LED LIGHT?
Different to UV Light, Led Phototherapy is a non – invasive treatment that delivers therapeutic low level light energy to promote rejuvenating and corrective improvements to areas of the face and body. Clinically proven wavelengths of light in Blue, Red and Near Infrared are absorbed by the skin to stimulate cell renewal and collagen production. It is an effective, relaxing and pain free treatment without any downtime.
WHAT IS THE BLUE LIGHT WAVELENGTH USED FOR?
BLUE 415nm as the most proven wavelength to destroy the bacteria which causes acne and improves skin clarity without irritation. This powerful antibacterial action also has a calming effect to reduce the redness and inflammation associated with acne conditions.
WHAT IS THE RED LIGHT WAVELENGTH USED FOR?
RED 633nm supercharges cell energy to accelerate repair and renewal, boosts collagen synthesis, increases hydration and enhances circulation to reverse the visible signs of aging. Red light is ideal for restoring vitality and glow.
WHAT IS NEAR INFRARED?
NEAR INFRARED 830nm targets deeper cells to trigger the wound healing process, calm redness and irritation, reduce pigmentation and promote healthy skin.
WHICH SKIN CONCERNS CAN I TREAT WITH LED?
There isn’t a skin concern that LED Light can not treat! Our LED device has programs to treat fine lines, photo damage, loss of elasticity, enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, dull and sallow skin, dehydration, lack of radiance, puffiness, dry tight skin, flaky and rough skin texture, easily irritated, sun induced age spots, uneven skin tone, hormonal and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, acne, blackheads, excessively oily skins, open pores, thin and vulnerable skin, persistent facial redness, flushing, visible capillaries, Psoriasis, Eczema, and musculoskeletal pain.
HOW MANY LED SESSIONS DO I NEED TO SEE RESULTS?
For best results, we recommend two to three LED Light sessions per week for a period of three weeks, and then one to two sessions per week in order to maintain your results.
CAN I HAVE LED AFTER HAVING SKIN NEEDLING?
As skin needling relies on the wound healing process in order to achieve best results, we recommend waiting a week after any skin needling treatments to have an LED Light treatment. You can however have multiple LED treatments in the lead up to your skin needling appointment.
CAN I HAVE LED AFTER HAVING SKIN PEELS OR OTHER TREATMENTS?
To enhance the results of any skin treatments including peels, LED Light treatments can be performed in conjunction or prior to most skin treatments, facials and peels.
IS LED SAFE DURING PREGNANCY?
While there is nothing definitive regarding whether or not LED Light treatments are safe throughout pregnancy, we recommend avoiding LED treatments during your first Trimester. If you are unsure, we recommend speaking with your treating medical professionals.
CAN LED HARM ME?
While LED is a safe and effective treatment for most, there are a few instances in which LED should be avoided. These are if you suffer from Epilepsy or Seizures, Porphyria, Lupus, Photosensitive Eczema, Hypomelanism, taking Photosensitising Medications and Active Cancers.

Some precautions include pregnancy, eye diseases and conditions, light induced migraines, taking St Johns Wort, or if you are under 16 years of age. If you are ever unsure, please speak with your medical professionals.

ARE PEELS SAFE DURING PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING?
Most of the O Cosmedics Peels are safe to be used during pregnancy and during breastfeeding. The two exceptions which are to be avoided are the Acne Resurfacing Peel due to its Salicylic Acid content, and the Anti Aging Peel due to its Vitamin A content. If you are unsure, please speak with one of our Beauty Therapists who will customise a safe and effective treatment option tailored to your skin concerns.
CAN I HAVE A PEEL BEFORE OR AFTER COSMETIC TATTOOING?
Depending on the level of intensity, peels are a great option for preparing the skin for tattooing. 2 weeks is the recommended amount of time to wait after having a peel treatment. For the more intensive peels, you may need to wait 3-6 weeks before having a cosmetic tattoo treatment.
If you are using intensive active products designed to continue the peeling process then it is essential to advise your cosmetic tattoo artist prior to booking.
WILL HAVING PEELS EFFECT MY COSMETIC TATTOOS?
Less intensive Peels may help to restore the vibrancy of your tattoos since they help with removing the layers of dead skin cells which may be masking the underlying colour. They also revitalise the healthy cells making them transluscent so that the appearance of colour is improved.

More intensive peels are designed to accelerate the cellular renewal process which in turn may accelerate the fading of cosmetic tattoos. It is essential to advise your treating therapist that your eyebrows or lips are tattooed so that they can avoid the tattooed areas.

Peels are rarely applied to the eyelids so eyeliner is not effected.

WILL PEELS REMOVE MY PIGMENTATION?
Pigmentation has many causes, and not all forms of pigmentation can be easily improved or removed. Your Beauty Therapist will need to perform a consultation to determine the underlying cause of your pigmentation and customise a product and treatment plan to brighten and improve the areas of high pigment.
ARE PEELS SUITABLE FOR TREATING ROSACEA?
Rosacea is a condition of the skin that can be managed and improved with lifestyle changes, diet, skin care and skin treatments to strengthen and improve the health and immunity of your skin. Depending on the severity of the Rosacea, your therapist will be able to devise the most appropriate peel for you.
SHOULD I PATCH TEST BEFORE HAVING A PEEL?
If you have had a negative response to previous skin care or professional facial treatments, we will gladly patch test your peel or products on the inside of your wrist prior to booking a peel at the studio. We recommend waiting 24 hours to see how the applied patch text responds before booking your appointment.
